Welcome to the new website!
I'm sure there are a number of things that stand out to you right off the hop, I'll try and touch on them here. The site redesign has been going on for the last six months and although the process was longer than hoped; I think you'll find the new site is much better than before.
The main thing that has changed is the name of the site including the URL. It was decided that the name of the site should better reflect our direction for the future. What direction is that? We are narrowing our focus to concentrate on provincial news that affects the Saskatchewan Motorcyclist. This will be accomplished through collaboration with other Saskatchewan
Motorcycle clubs and groups including dealers.
We'll be actively
involved in gathering information about events and everything else
going on in this province so that as we grow, people will know to come
here first to find information on motorcycling in this province.
Although there will always be articles and news on the motorcycling
industry outside this province, our focus will be here and supplemented
with "world" news about riding.
Some of the things that have changed are:
- A fully redesigned site from bottom up, besides the actual article content, the site is completely new
- The forum was converted to a different system. This was done to bring alot of the old forum features (PM's, event calendar etc) out into the main site. The main features of the old forum are also included in the new including some new user specified layout options as well
- A new Help section that is the place to go for information on how to utilize the site
- The header images have been expanded for a more dynamic look and, as always, your submissions can be seen on there - you just have to send them in
- The featured Ride is still here, but it is better than ever with an easier layout which makes it easier to browse through past entries
- We also have a new Featured Images section which will contain the header images and some more information on them as well as any motorcycle or Saskatchewan related photos
- All of your posts, galleries and avatars have been converted to the new site as well
- A brand new profile component has been created that is much more dynamic with the ability to show more information about the users
- Content has been modified so that there are more options on how to display them. This includes the quote functionality that is included in this very article
- A brand new SMA Arcade has been introduced with nearly 40 games including some pretty addictive motorcycles ones
- A glossary component has been created that can be filled with all the motorcycle terminology. Content throughout the site will then have a link on the glossary words in order to find a definition and/or more information on that word or phrase
- A brand new Events section has been created that will have information on the events in the province as well as the people or organizations behind them
- A brand new event calendar allows registered users to submit new events so that everyone is aware of events going on around the province
- Weather information is now easier to find with a brand new component that allows you to choose your location so that you'll know if it's nice enough to ride
- We also have a brand new classifieds system which is easier to navigate and post your ad including the ability to upload up to 3 images
- It's also much easier to post your opinion about an article as there is a link at the end of the article where you can enter your comment in a matter of a few seconds
Additionally, more features are in the works, so stay tuned.
For now, enjoy the new features of the site and contact us with any questions, concerns or comments anytime.
Kind regards;
SMA Admin
