Be Safe! 1 Year, 6 Months ago
I know someone who works at the general hospital who had to deal with a motorcycle accident this weekend.

She didn't have much information, but said the accident involved a semi. The injuries were extremely severe and very graphic, so I won't go into any more detail than that. It sounded to me like the rider tried to pass on the highway and misjudged the distance and didn't make it. She said the victim looked about 19 years old.

This is motorcycle safety week and this story should serve to remind us all that just because our machines are quick and nimble, it doesn't mean that we are invincible and can out run, or out manouvre anything in our path.

Everyone please ride safe this season!

Post edited by: Atlas, at: 2007/05/16 08:41

Good points man, Saskatchewan saw 5 deaths last year for motorcyclists and in 2007, we're already at 4...it's too early in the year to lose this many.

Ride safe out there!!!

Fatal Crash Kills Teen
May 13, 2007

A 19 year old man from Southern Saskatchewan is dead following a fatal crash Sunday morning.

The man was driving a motorcycle along Highway 28 north of Radville, when he collided with a semi truck.

RCMP say around 11:30, the southbound semi was making a left hand turn onto a grid road, when it was struck in the side by the southbound motorcycle.

The 19 year old man has been identified as Evan Barbarin from Radville.

RCMP believe speed was a factor.

Nigel Maxwell reporting

I heard that the semi was crossing over the crest of a hill and the rider was going to fast to be able to slow in time...
