Alsport 2 Years, 5 Months ago

After having a very poor experience at Alsport I called down to talk to someone about my experience. Since the phone call didn't satisfy me, I thought I would share the experience on this very public bike forum.

This all started this past Saturday. My wife and I are looking for some new bike gear. I am looking to replace my helmet, and get some new gloves. My wife is looking at getting a helmet, and possibly a jacket. We are also considering getting a helmet for our kids. While this isn't like purchasing a new bike, I would still consider it to be a decent sale.

Later Sat afternoon (~3:30) we get into Alsport and start looking at and trying on the different helmets. After a short period of time one of the salespeople come over and ask another customer if they can help him. Once done with this customer they walk away. After a few more people come into the store once again a salesperson comes over to the helmet area and askes a couple other customers if they can be of service. Never once were we asked if anyone could help us. For that matter, we were never even acknowledged.

So we continued looking for a little while, and tried on a couple more helmets. And then all of a sudden some of the lights went out. Looked around to see if someone had bumped a light switch. Hey, someone is finally coming over to help us out. Nope we were told "The store is closing could you please leave" :eeksmilie:. I kind of stood there a little dumbfounded, and then we walked out.

After this I was a little ticked off, but thought I would give them a chance, and see if they were willing to do something about this. Monday afternoon I called down and asked to speak to a Manager in regards to a poor sales experience that I had over the weekend. When he got onto the phone I was asked what had happened, and explained the entire series of events. I also mentioned that I was active on an internet based bike forum, and commented on how good and bad service is spread (hoping that this might persuad him to try and rectify the situation).

Basically all I was told was that he didn't know what happend, but he would talk to the staff and try to findout. He then proceeded to make a comment to the effect that sometimes you get good service and sometimes you get bad service. And if you get bad service that sucks. This basically just pissed me off more, so I told him if that was his attitude he would never see me in the store again, and that I would tell everyone I could of this experience, and poor attitude. Again he just came back with an oh well whatever kind of attitude. :wtf:.

So I am guessing that Alsport have no need to try and keep any kind of repeat. As of now I am making it my mission to spread the word about the piss poor attitude and service that Alsport are half heartedly providing. I have heard that if you have good service you will tell one or two people if you have bad service you will tell 10 people. I am doing whatever I can to tell everyone I can about this lack of service.

Please feel free to quote me, and pass this along to anyone that may consider going into Alsport. There may not be many bike dealers in Regina, but I know the others do actually appreciate the business that we provide to them. So if you are in the market for anything, do yourself a favour, and go someplace that you are wanted and appreciated.

+1 Dallas.

I have always had a feeling when I walked into Alsport like I was almost blessed for them to even allow me in the store.

They have an aura around that place like I have to earn good customer service by buying a machine from them.

I haven't bought anything from them in the past few years except for oil filters and the only reason I do that is becaue they usually have them on hand and they don't make barely anything on them anyhow.

I really hadn't had much of a problem untill this point. But at the same time this one was way over the top. It is the first time, as a customer, I have ever been asked to leave a store. And that is why I thought I would give the manager a call and see what would happen. I was kindof expecting at the very least to get an appology. But that never happend, so I thought I would mention my willingness to spread the word about the very poor level of service. When the guy basically just said go ahead, that kind of pushed me over the edge. And as a result, we ended up with the novel that I posted above (sorry about the length).

All of this has me rather upset at Alsport, so if you are a member of any other bike forums, please pass this along. If it is linked, or copy and pasted, or whatever needs to be done feel free. I would really like to get the widest possible distibution of this. If I can keep one person from entering the store that is great. If I can keep more people out of there because of this, all I have to say the more the better.

I understand this has been posted on SMAA, and as a result has created quite a stir over there. As a result I just thought I would add a couple of comments.

Being that this is a bike forum, and a local bike forum, I thought I would post my comments about my experience. While this is a post is written and does have a negative spin on it, it is not ment to bash this particular dealership. I understand that several people have had very good experiences with Alsport, however I did not.

I would also like to add to the fact that I did not simple walk out of there all pissed off and login here to vent. This particular occurance happend on a Sat afternoon. Two days later I attempted to call down and talk to someone about my experience. What I was looking for in my phone call was a simple appology, and nothing more. However I was basically blown off and this is what prompted me to write this post.

I would also like to add to all of this that this was not my first or only dealing with Alsport. In the past I have purchased close to two thousand dollars worth of parts, or more in a single year. And each and every time I have walked through the front doors of the place I have felt as though they really don't want to serve me since I haven't purchased a bike from there.

I know there were comments made about people would rather have it this way than to have pushy salespeople. I do agree that some salespeople do push the extremes, but there is also a happy medium. There is a reason it is called customer service!!! It doesn't matter if I am sitting in a restraunt for supper, or in a dealership to purchase something. I am the customer, and without customers neither business would be open for very long.

Seemed fitting that the following post showed up on SMAA...Alsport must be having a bad week or something...oh wait...that's just how they do business...

QUOTE:
ok, to the admin i tryed to post in the other topics about alsport however they are locked, so i appologise for the new topic
i went into alsport and got my new pilot power rear tire as well as i got the brakes done and got the oil changed, as i was leaving the bike was handling different and the rear end was kind of slippery and what not, as i have never had a new tire on a bike i figured it must be the new tire, well about 5 blocks later something is really wrong so i pull over and the rear tire is flat. SHIT!! upon inspection i find a 2" long clean slice across the face of the tire, it looks like someone stuck a knife in it, so i whip out the old cell phone and call them up, i'm told they are too busy to help me and the best they can do is give me an air tank so i can get back there, however i doubt it will hold air long enough for me to get back there, so go back to them and tell them what happend and suggest a flat deck tow truck, he tells me that i probley picked up a nail or something and that he'd have to look at it, i say that i'll get a tow truck but that they should pay for it, he says "yeah if it's a defective tire we'll look after it", so i return with the bike on a flat deck (55 bucks) and they are too busy to look at it, and they will look at it tomorow, i ask what i should do with the tow bill and he says that they most likely wont cover it, i think that i must have mis heard him when he said they would, but my little brother who was with me at the time reminds me of what the guy said, so i ask him about that and he tells me he said no such thing, now i'm pissed right the fuck off but instead of loosing it on the guy, they said they'll fix it up if it's a factory defect but not if there is something in there, i decided that i'll wait to see what they tell me tomorrow, personaly i dont care what the fuck happend to the tire, it was obviousley loosing air as i left ( due to the weird handling) and if something did puncture the tire it happend in their shop or as they drove it around to the front.
the part that really pisses me off is that in the last 3 weeks my parents were looking for bikes and ended up buying two brand fucking new bikes off alsport as well as new helmets, jackets and gloves, and acesories for the bikes, and they werent going to go there because they have heard bad things, but i told them to check them out because they have always been good to me. we will see what happens tomorrow, if they make things right they will get a big fivestar reveiw from me and i will continue to do business with them, however if they dont, that is the last time they will see me or any of my family in that shop (all five of us ride).

i would be wrong however if i didn't say that their sales team is great, Jason and Cam are good guys, they even talked my dad out of ordering about $2,500 of power adding accesories and just get a feel for the bike in it's stock form first, i'd say that thats pretty good of them. aslo they are selling their pilot powers for $55 cheaper than any place in town (as long as you dont have to buy two), over all alsport has been good but this incident has me pissed right off. it would seem so stupid for them to loose all of that business over a couple hundred bucks
i will inform you all of how this unfolds tomorrow when i go in
