Starter Button 3 Years, 3 Months ago
So, I go for a rip over my lunch hour (beats sitting around the office) and enjoyed myself.

Come out after work to ride home. Unlock the helmut, throw the key in the ignition. Put my helmet on, turn the key, flip the run switch, go to press the start button and.....it's gone.

So, I push/roll down the grade of the parkade start it and head over to Cycle Salvage. He says they might have one but I'd have to dig around for about an hour to find a broken assembly cause he won't sell me just the button.

I phoned Alsport, they can only offer me the whole assembly for 125...I found a couple on ebay for about 20 bucks...but I'd like to get it sooner.
Any idears of where else I could get one from? Anyone have a button just laying around??

Although its probably too late to help you (I've been away for a few days), you could try both Princess Auto and BE Electronics. They both carry a wide assortment of switches.

hmmmm....it's not to late but do you mean that they may have a button that'll fit in the existing or are you talking about rigging up a switch?? The stupid thing about these buttons is that they actually complete the circuit (there's metal in the button that completes the ground so not any button will do)

Possibly both - BE has lots of equipment - they are on Lorne a block north of Dewdney. Princess Auto has all sorts of wiring harness, starting buttons, etc. They are on the east side of Regina, on the north service road. The only problem with PA is you have to look hard to find things.
Hey man, I doubt this will work but you can have the one off the ol' FJ if you want. It's a rectangle shaped dealy but you never know.... :)

Is this the whole grip assembly with the throttle, run and start switches? That's what I'd need if I were to go that route...

Well...thanks mixerman for dropping off that kill/starter switch assembly...no dice though. It is millimeters away from working but alas...not gonna happen.

Let me know if you want me to sell it on ebay for ya, let me know what it's from etc and I can throw it up there. Of course, if you just want it back that's cool too... O0

Re: Starter Button 3 Years, 3 Months ago
So I think I might just modify it a bit...get rid of the switch assembly entirely....

Get rid of the run switch completely (is this not a good idea? I never got the point of the kill switch really save for the fact you can shut the bike off without turning the key) and hide the starter button somewhere on the bike...

Thoughts?

Well, after looking at the bike, I can't just get rid of the assembly since it holds the throttle...but I think I will modify it still, but the "box" would still be there to make it look legit...
