PLEASE HELP! 95 VS800 problem 2 Years, 3 Months ago
hello. cool site by the way. my first visit, im a fellow member of sask sport bike...

bought a 95 VS800 Intruder, and it ran perfect. 7000km on it, mint.

pulled it apart,(not the motor) but just the cosmetic stuff. and got it all painted. wicked paint job might i add. and i put er back together.

now here lies the problem:

it only runs on 1 cylinder, until u get on the throttle a bit, about half way to full, then the second cylinder will start to fire, but only as long as ure on the throttle.

the cylinder is getting fuel, its pissin it right out that pipe. ive checked the plug, and the coil tests perfect. next would be the pick ups in the stator, correct?

please help, im in regina, so if anyone can help a brother out, thatd be awesome. all i wanna do is ride!!!!

Sounds to me like you have a carb problem....likely a pilot jet plugged or dirty. A quick carb cleaning should fix the problem.

and :welcome: to the site O0

did you put a new plug in? ive seen on more than one occasion where a plug will spark when your testing it, nut as soon as you put the put the plug under compression it fails. just a thought.

If the bike was running fine before you started the work and only cosmetic work was done, then as the others suggested, I'd look at the carbs, especially any vacuum lines to make sure they aren't pinched and the gasline - again make sure it isn't pinched or restricted in any way. Sparkplug wires should also be checked to make sure they aren't wearing against a metal spot and arcing out. Finally, is there any chance the housing on the air filter isn't on tight/correct? Let us know.
