Hi Daniel,
Been crazy busy and too tired to do much -- so have only been out around the neighbourhood a couple of times. Not even out of 3rd gear yet. Like my wife says:"Baby steps". I checked the SaskPlace schedule and there's nothing on this weekend so if I can get enough guts to try fourth gear, I may try to get over there tomorrow (Sunday).

What's new for you?

Rod.

busy like crazy too. Seems to be going around.
I've got in about 400km since the course and am starting to think the wind will never stop.
I keep telling myself I have to hit the highway but life intervenes

Was out early today before there was much traffic and got as far as the Lawson mall where I practised low-speed handling. Still not ready for mixing it up in too much in traffic but things are improving.

Still waiting for the new fuel shut-off -- backordered with no ETA -- so I drained the tank again this aft and re-worked the repair on the old one as it was weeping very slightly. Worked on some of the old wiring in the headlight bucket that was looking pretty ratty and frayed. Also put in an H4 headlight to hopefully been seen sooner than with the old DOT bulb. Hope I got the thing aimed OK.

Half the fun is working on them thankfully, or just tell yourself that.

I had my wife riding the v star at the church parking lot tonight. No low speed practice yet, she's concentrating on starts, stops and balance.
540lbs is a fair piece no matter what the cc's.

That's what I found really inimidating climbing onto my KZ after the little bikes at MTC. More power to you if you've got your wife trying -- mine's not even very happy as a bicylcist so I'm on my own.

Cam chain broke this morning. Engine's out but the case isn't split yet so no total on the damage but it needs 8 valves for sure.

With just about everyting off the frame, might as well have it blasted and powdercoated while I'm at it ...

No -- the guy I bought it from is doing the mechanical work. I'll see how long it'll be to get parts and decide then if there's time to do the frame. So far, looks like it also needs a new crankshaft...

The cranks OK and all the parts are here -- including the backordered petcock -- so the bike should be back on the road after the weekend...

One month since the cam chain broke. Still no ride as waiting on getting the new valves lapped and everyting bolted back together... sheesh.

Summer's going away too fast so am thinking about springing for something newer and more reliable. Anyone know about the Suzuki V-Strom 650? I don't need off-road capability, but off-highway would be good, including grid roads.

Still no ETA on the broken Kawa and with summer half gone I fired up the line of credit and bought an '07 Suzuki V-Strom 650 yesterday. It has around 4000 km on the clock but was a demo so i still get the full warranty. With my luck, I'll need it...
