First steps taken... 6 Months, 1 Week ago
... well, actually 2nd and 3rd steps since I've already bought a bike. Step 2 was taking the Motorcycle Training Course last weekend, and # 3 was today when I picked up my learner's permit. Should have time this weekend to put some practice time in -- I'm thinking the SaskPlace lot should be a good place to get things sorted out.

The MTC was very good and I'd recommend it. I've never ridden before so it felt like too much of my time was spent just trying to keep upright and moving -- but at least I have a good idea of what I need to do. Got to meet Daniel-r from this forum at MTC, too.

Cheers,
Rod.

Congrats man...good to hear you took the training course too. It's a good thing to get under your belt before you play with something you paid for.

I may have to go out there and join you Rod. Seems my practice parking lot will be busy until end of June. Do you live in the north end?

I wish they would have had that course back home when I started... Would have saved me some skin LOL

Yup -- and besides the bike is replaceable -- most parts of me probably aren't...

Once you get practiced up and want to take a spin through the not so busy area of the city, let me know.

Have you been out practicing a bit yet Rod? My better half is leaving me for the afternoon on Sunday if you want some company on a slow putt about.
You'll have to keep it slow so the 650 can keep up

Just got the bike delivered Friday evening and spent today doing stuff so have yet to turn a wheel on it. Plan is to to run around the neighbourhood Sunday morning just to get the feel and learn where the controls are, etc. If I'm still in 1 piece, some parking lot practice might work out in the afternoon. My cell # is 251-1542.

Got shut down this morning before even getting out of the garage this morning by a broken fuel shutoff. Luckily I'd ordered a new one yesterday because it was sticking so I should have it in a week.

Well that stinks...on a long weekend as well - drags out the timeframe to get a replacement too.

That sucks Rod. I've been getting a whack of moulding stained and varathaned to be ready for tomorrow am so my riding time has been pretty limited as well.
OK, yours is way limited

Re:First steps taken... 6 Months ago
as a semi-aside, the saskatoon course will be offering the same after-course licensing deal as the gearing up course does. Supposed to kick in any time now, the said they were just dealing with the lawyers.

hmmm so either very soon, or not.
