HARLEY-DAVIDSON ANNOUNCES 2005 STURGIS RALLY EVENT SCHEDULE <br /><br /><br /><br />MILWAUKEE (July 18, 2005) – With summer at full throttle, the official Harley-Davidson schedule of events is in place for the 65th Annual Black Hills Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, S.D. from August 8-14, 2005. The rally remains one of the most popular motorcycle events due to its rich history, amazing scenery and exciting events and attractions. <br /><br />Harley-Davidson and Buell events will run from Saturday, Aug. 6 through Saturday, Aug. 13. Main events will include: the Harley-Davidson and Buell indoor show, Harley-Davidson and Buell demo rides including the new 2006 models, the Harley-Davidson Traveling Museum, MDA Auction and Bike Raffle, Ride-In Show, free bike wash and a tattoo contest. <br /><br />Enthusiasts are invited to register their Harley-Davidson or Buell motorcycle for the Ride-In Show, which takes place from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Registration will take place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Aug. 10. The $5 entry fee will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and all entrants will receive a special edition commemorative dash plaque. “Best of Show” winners in each of the 16 classes will receive a $200 cash prize, and $500 cash prizes will be awarded to the top Sportster and Big Twin utilizing Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories. <br /><br />Race fans will be able to check out the AHDRA Screamin’ Eagle Nationals at Sturgis Dragway on Sunday, Aug. 7 for qualifying and Monday, Aug. 8 for the eliminations. <br /><br />Harley-Davidson is working with Thrash’s Living Art Studio to host a tattoo contest Thursday, Aug. 11 with chances for entrants to win up to $3,500 in cash prizes. Not this year.&nbsp; I&#039;ve done the run 4 or 5 times in the last 7 years and while the area is really nice and the rally is a lot of fun, I&#039;ve decided to try different rallys for the next couple of years.&nbsp; This summer, I&#039;m doing a BMW rally in Wyoming.<br /><br />If someone from the site is going for the first time and wants some advice on where to stay, what to see, etc, drop me a line.
