online shops recommendations (gear/accessories)? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Does anyone have any recommendations for online shops selling gear and/or accessories?

Preferably shipping from within Canada?

Online shops shipping from within Canada is pretty rare from what I've seen anyway.

There are a couple in the states that I've heard decent things about - www.oldbikebarn.com www.bikebandit.com are a couple.

One thing though is that alot of times you don't save a whole lot going about it that way. Alot of times, the savings are nominal - I personally find what I want online and then get my favorite shop to order it in for me...and usually I end up spending close to what I would online anyhow...

You're kidding right? I would LOVE more then anything to spend all my money locally. If the price was within 20% I'd buy here. But I find (ESPECIALLY with our strong dollar) that I can by accessories and clothing online from the US for usually more then half what it costs here.

Mork...to answer your question ther are a couple places I (and some friends frequent).

For accessories I like CruiserCustomizing. In fact, they do FREE shipping to Canada. AND on 4 of my last 5 shipments, Rev Canada did not apply a duty/tax to it

To get free shipping you need to list the promo in the "comments" field. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/promo.cfm?offer=4a&mc=11171

Another good place for gear is http://www.metricbikes-superstore.com/

I haven't shopped there but I know others who have. They only list UPS shipping (you DON'T want that) but if you call they will ship USPS if you want.

Then there is the ever famous denniskirk.com

It depends on what you want. If you want the stuff the absolute cheapest you can - then many times, an online choice is your best one. But if you want after sales service and a chance to rectify an order if it's gone bad, then dealing locally is the best option.

Thanks for pointing those sites out though - that's good information...

I agree. The stuff I get online is more in the cosmetic range. I think if I was dealing more with mechanics / performance I would be more inclined to shop local..for that support.

I just ordered and received my first shipment from Bike Bandit and I couldn't be happier. Since there is no Triumph dealer in Saskatchewan, I have had to order from Blackfoot in Calgary in the past. Therefore, I avoided the guilt of neglecting to buy from a local dealer (it'll be a cold day in Hell when I deem Alberta "local.&quot

Bike Bandit's online bike schematics are terrific, especially if you just want to take a look at an exploded view of your bike for mechanical purposes. All the duty was taken care of during the ordering and I was able to track my order/shipment via their website. Plus I discovered that they can even get parts for my vintage Suzukis that Alsport says are obsolete!

I highly recommend Bike Bandit.

Oh yeah, I also saved upwards of $200!
