Hi everyone. After lurking on the boards for a while while searching for my "new" bike, I've got it and now ready to pony up a membership and participate!
My name is Steve and I used to ride MANY years ago on a Yamaha 500 cc twin. While I'm a lot older now, and turning 50 this year. I spent a long time trying to decide what to do for my mid-life crisis. The original plan was to build a small sailboat and have it ready for this summer. But work and life just kept getting in the way. So I re-evaluated my plans and for less than it would of cost to build the sailboat I picked up "nearly" the bike of my dreams. I fell in love with the mid 80's RS's, but they are hard to find and getting REALLY expensive due to their demand. But I did find a 1985 BMW R80RT in Winnipeg in decent shape. Lots of km's but decent maintenance done, will need some cosmetic work, but hey, I'm not looking for a show bike, I want a RIDING bike. So as I enter my 50's I have a bike I always wanted, that will last me til I can't ride no more, and hopefully some new riding friends I can spend time with.
I've been out a few times now, just getting carefully used to riding again. In another couple of weeks I'd like to try a Wednesday evening ride. Do you get many out for these event? I'd like to come along.
