Traditional or Gel you want to use as little as possible. A small dab on a clean cloth. Rub it on your lense and then wipe until it is clean but not to the point to where you know that you have removed the shaving cream completely. Wipe it until you can see clearly. Note: If you want to test this whole idea, before you take a hot shower perform this same technique on part of your mirror. Then when you get out you will be able to see in the part that you've treated with shaving cream. Any questions about this send me a message and I'll try to answer them, but there isn't a whole lot that I don't know when it comes to simple tricks.
